Glencastle Resort Hotel, now known as the Oceanview Hotel, is a boutique resort located approximately 30 minutes from George F.L. Charles (SLU) Airport in Castries and about 90 minutes away from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). Situated in Rodney Bay, the hotel offers easy access to the romantic beaches of Pigeon Island and Reduit Beach. The hotel features exquisite French architecture and is home to The Captain’s Table, a delectable Cajun restaurant.

If you are looking for a budget friendly home away from home during your trip to St. Lucia, Tuxedo Villas, now known as Beachcross Villa Apartments, are a great choice. The small enclave is located in the Village District of Rodney Bay, providing easy access to shopping, dining, and nightlife as well as golf.
The property is also located only steps from the beautiful beachfront, making it ideal for relaxation. But while the hotel makes an ideal home base, you want to see all that the island has to show you during your stay.

Corinth is an incredible part of Gros Islet, St. Lucia that is home to Calabash Cove, an exquisite resort and spa. Also in Corinth, you will find beautiful, relaxing waters as well as delightful dining options. From here, you will find it easy to reach the rest of the island, including Soufriere, which is home to Sulphur Springs, the world’s only drive in volcano, as well as Diamond Falls, the Piton Mountains, plantations, history, shopping, dining, and more. Gros Islet also offers easy access to the duty free shops at Castries, the island’s beautiful fishing villages, world class beaches, and so very much more.

Charles (SLU) airport or even the 80 minute drive to Hewanorra International Airport, you won’t find better prices or friendlier faces than Islander St. Lucia.
Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is where most visitors to the island will arrive. The airport is located on the island’s southern tip, and is about an hour to an hour and a half from all of the island’s main hotels, resorts, and attractions. While some resorts are reached using the scenic roads along the island’s west coast, the rugged terrain makes it faster to use the east coast roads to reach most destinations.
Wherever you have chosen to stay during your trip, Islander St. Lucia can get you there, back, and everywhere in between at the island’s best rates. We staff only the friendliest native drivers around so that you can enjoy your ride and ask any questions about the island or what it has to offer.
We can meet you at the car as soon as you clear customs so that there is no wait when you book in advance, and we will be happy to be your St Lucia Taxi provider throughout your stay on the island.
Katie & Matt,
After going through customs at UVF, we met up with Steve who drove us to Sapphire Apt. He was very polite and informative about the area. Once we saw how windy the roads were, we were very happy we weren’t driving (FL has very straight roads). Steve was obviously very comfortable and safe with his driving. We arrived in the late afternoon so we rested a bit before heading to Ruby’s for dinner. We were a little bummed that the Pizzaria was out of Pizza but they have other options and everything was yummy and affordable.
The next day we walked into town to try to find Chester, the diver master at Hummingbird, we didn’t find him but spoke to a guy who works with him. Called him for us. We arranged to dive the next day at 9:00am. Next, we got a water taxi over to Anse Chastanet. It was a short trip on a tiny boat (imagine a row boat with an oversized motor). When/if you hire a water-taxi make sure you understand the price ahead of time, we had a misunderstanding about EC $ vs US$ and we ended up paying more than we wanted to. Also, be aware that the closer you get to the waterfront, the more panhandlers/pedders will come to you. As soon as you get about a block inland you will not be bothered.
The snorkeling at Anse Chastanet was incredible. Just off the beach too! We snorkeled in both the marine protected area that is roped off and off the beach. Both were full of life and crystal-clear water. We had lunch on the beach and felt very welcomed even though we weren’t staying at the resort. We had appetizers b/c the entres were a little pricey for us ($20US for a burger) It was delicious and plenty of food for us.
On Monday, we went diving with Chester which was great. We did 2 dives and paid US$110 per dive ($60 per person or U.S $110 for 2 people) which included gear. Again, we were on a small boat but the dive sites were only about 15 minutes way so it was no problem. The dives were 60ft and well worth it! We saw so may fish, coral, sponges, craps, shrimps etc. We even saw a sea turtle and a sea horse and Chester let is spear lionfish (lionfish are invasive and detrimental to the reef) The dives we did was called Fairyland (near Anse Chastanet) and Superman’s fight (at the base of the Pitons). If you are certified you should definitely go out with Chester. He was a great dive master/guide and the dives were the best of my life. After diving we had lunch at skippers which was a lunch buffet. We noticed lots of locals so we figured it must be good. There were tons of local dishes and they loaded up one plate. We ended up sharing one meal and it was plenty for us.
On Tuesday, we arranged with Janus to have a driver take us to some of the touristy spots. Fabian met us at the apartment and drove us to Morne Coubaril estate for Ziplining, then the drive in Volcano, mud baths, Torille waterfall. We paid $70US for the driver which doesn’t include entry to the attractions. Again, it was well worth the money! Fabian was very polite & punctual, ziplining was great, volcano tour was good, the mud baths was very crowded. It would probably be better to go very early in the morning or later in the evening. The Torille waterfall was great and refreshingly cool. We were lucky and had the place to ourselves for a few minutes before the tour groups showed up. After the waterfall Fabian took us to the volcano to the restaurant for Lunch. It was similar to Skippers but you choose your meat and then they added all the side dishes. It was delicious and I had to bring half of it back.
Today we head to Fond Doux Plantation for the ‘’Fancy’’ Part of our Honeymoon. We are a little sad to be leaving Sapphire Apts! Once again, we asked to have someone pick us up at Fedo’s (local spot for lunch) and Janus was super accommodating. We had a wonderful stay!
Walking into town is about 15-20 minutes. The walk back up is steep but we didn’t mind. We just made sure to only do it once a day.
Already mentioned, but get a price in USD & ECD for any tours/water taxi ask ahead of time, if you don’t they won’t tell you a price (better yet ask Janus to arrange it for you)
